AJet was established on April 23, 2008, under the name AnadoluJet, as a low-cost airline fully owned by Turkish Airlines, with the mission of offering affordable flights to the masses. As of April 1, 2024, it began independent operations under the name AJet Hava Taşımacılığı A.Ş. The company, headquartered at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, has its secondary hub at Ankara Esenboğa Airport. AJet operates as an independent airline and is not a member of global alliances such as Star Alliance, Oneworld, or SkyTeam. As of 2024, AJet's fleet consists of 119 aircraft, predominantly using Boeing 737 models, especially the 737-800. The company aims to expand its fleet to 200 aircraft within the next 10 years and plans to operate flights to a total of 44 countries, including 42 domestic and 80 international destinations.
