Vueling Airlines is one of Spain's leading low-cost airlines. Founded on February 10, 2004, Vueling made its first flight on July 1, 2004, between Barcelona and Ibiza. The company's headquarters are located in Viladecans and El Prat de Llobregat, with its main hub at Barcelona–El Prat Airport. Vueling also has bases at major airports such as Paris Orly, Amsterdam Schiphol, London Gatwick, and Rome Fiumicino. However, it is not a member of any global airline alliance. Since 2013, it has been operating as part of the International Airlines Group (IAG).
Vueling's fleet primarily consists of Airbus A320 family aircraft. The fleet comprises approximately 120-130 aircraft. Following its merger with Clickair in 2009, it became the airline with the largest fleet in Spain and currently operates flights to a total of 122 destinations across Europe, Africa, and Asia. In 2019, Vueling carried over 34 million passengers, positioning itself as one of Europe's reputable low-cost airline operators. In addition to being Spain's second-largest airline, it stands out with its rapid growth story. In its first year, Vueling carried 40,000 passengers with two A320 aircraft, reaching 8.2 million passengers after the 2009 merger. This dynamic airline under IAG control offers attractive options for travelers seeking low-cost travel.
As a low-cost carrier based in Spain, Vueling Airlines has an extensive network of destinations. In addition to domestic routes within Spain, the company operates flights to many major cities across Europe. Serving a total of 122 destinations, Vueling also provides flights to select locations in Africa and Asia. With its main hub at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, Vueling has significant operational bases at major European airports such as London Gatwick, Paris Orly, Amsterdam Schiphol, and Rome Fiumicino.
Among Vueling's most popular routes are flights from Barcelona to cities such as Madrid, Paris, Rome, and London. Additionally, seasonal flights to holiday destinations are also operated. Through codeshare agreements, Vueling collaborates with airlines under the International Airlines Group (IAG) umbrella, such as British Airways and Iberia, offering passengers more connection and transfer opportunities. Thanks to this extensive network, Vueling stands out as one of Europe's leading low-cost airlines.
