Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport (IATA: BEY, ICAO: OLBA) is located in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, and is just 9 km away from the city center. Opened on April 23, 1954, the airport is the only commercial airport in the country. The airport, which has two asphalt runways, has an annual capacity of 3.5 million passengers, and it is aimed to increase this capacity to 16 million by 2035. The airport features duty-free shops, various restaurants, and cafes. Additionally, it offers passengers a wide shopping opportunity with stores of international and local brands. Beirut Airport is also an important center for cargo transportation and has the busiest air cargo terminal in the region.
