Hong Kong International Airport (IATA: HKG, ICAO: VHHH) is a major transportation hub located in the Chek Lap Kok area of Hong Kong, opened in 1998. Built on an artificial island, the airport is connected to Hong Kong by the Tsing Ma Bridge and can also be accessed via the airport line of the Hong Kong metro. The airport covers an area of 4,707 acres (1,905 hectares) and has 88 boarding gates, 77 of which are jet bridge gates.
