Opened on February 26, 1979, the airport is located approximately 40 km west of Taipei, in the Dayuan district of Taoyuan city. Its IATA code is TPE, and its ICAO code is RCTP. The airport features two parallel runways, one 3660 meters long and the other 3800 meters long. Its annual passenger capacity is around 34 million. The structure, consisting of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, includes duty-free shops, restaurants, cafes, and various shopping options. The airport plays a significant role in cargo transportation and serves as a hub for international trade.
Terminal Information
There are two main terminals at Taoyuan International Airport. Terminal 1 was opened in 1979 and serves international flights with its 22 gates. Its capacity was increased with renovation works carried out in 2012-2013. Terminal 2 was opened in 2000 and completed in 2005; it has 20 gates and was renovated in 2020. Transportation between terminals is provided by shuttle services and a people mover system. China Airlines uses both terminals, while EVA Air predominantly prefers the Concourse C area of Terminal 2. There is no domestic and international flight separation at the airport; all flights are international.
