Opened in 1917 as RAF Khormaksar, this airport was closed as an RAF base in 1967 and later began to be used for both civilian and military purposes. The airport is approximately 6-12 kilometers away from the city center of Aden. With expansion works completed in 2001, it now has a runway that is 3,100 meters long and 45 meters wide.
