Ayodhya International Airport, officially known as Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham, is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The airport serves the cities of Ayodhya and Faizabad and has the IATA code AYJ and ICAO code VEAY. Construction began in February 2022 and it opened on December 30, 2023; commercial flights started on January 10, 2024. The airport is situated near highways NH-27 and NH-330, approximately 8-10 km from the city center of Ayodhya. There is a single runway at the airport; the runway is 2,200 meters long and can support narrow-body aircraft like the Airbus A320/A321 and Boeing 737. Although the initial annual passenger capacity of Ayodhya Airport was planned to be 600,000, it served over 1.1 million passengers in its first year.
