Janakpur Airport Guide
Janakpur Airport is a national airport located in the Madhesh Province of Nepal, connecting the city of Janakpur to the country's capital, Kathmandu, and other domestic destinations. Opened in 1960, the airport is situated approximately 2-2.5 km south of the city center. With the IATA code JKR and ICAO code VNJP, the airport is for civil use and serves only domestic flights. Operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Janakpur Airport is located in the Terai plains at an elevation of about 78 meters. Its annual passenger capacity exceeds 300,000, a result of modernization efforts and increased flight frequency. The airport features a single asphalt runway, 1200 meters in length, suitable for small and medium-sized turboprop aircraft. To enhance passenger comfort, the airport offers various duty-free areas, restaurants, and cafes.
Terminal Information
There is a single main terminal at Janakpur Airport. Since this terminal only serves domestic flights, there is no international terminal or passport control area. All airlines operate their flights through the same terminal. Essentially, flights to Kathmandu Tribhuvan Airport and other domestic flights are conducted from this terminal. The terminal offers a waiting area where passengers can wait comfortably, although it does not have a very large space.
