Juwata Airport is located in Tarakan, the largest city of North Kalimantan, with the IATA code TRK and ICAO code WAQQ. Initially built as a military base by the Dutch colonial government, the airport is now used for both civilian and military purposes. Originally featuring a 1,500-meter runway, Juwata Airport added a 183-meter taxiway in 2014, connecting civilian facilities with the military apron. The airport boasts a modern terminal with a daily capacity of 2,000 passengers. Inside, there are various cafes and souvenir shops to meet passengers' needs. The airport is situated quite close to Tarakan city center, offering quick and easy access. Additionally, it plays a significant role in cargo transportation.

Juwata Airport has a single terminal, officially opened on March 23, 2016. Compared to the old terminal, the daily passenger capacity has increased from 600 to 2,000.
