Getting to City Center

Metro / Light Rail (LRT Taipa Line + Bus Transfer): There is no classic metro in Macau; instead, the LRT (Light Rapid Transit) line operates in Taipa. From the Airport Station at the north exit of the airport, you can reach the Taipa center or Cotai Strip area in about 10–15 minutes via LRT. To reach the historic city center on the Macau Peninsula, you will need to transfer to a bus from Taipa. The LRT Taipa line operates approximately between 06:30–23:15, with services every 5–10 minutes during peak hours. The total travel time from the airport to the vicinity of Senado Square with the LRT + bus combination is between 30–40 minutes.

Bus (AP1 – Barrier Gate / city center connection): The AP1 bus line departs from the airport and heads towards the Barrier Gate border crossing, providing access to the area around Av. de Almeida Ribeiro / Av. Amizade. This area is within walking distance to the city center (Senado Square, historic center). The journey takes 25–35 minutes depending on traffic conditions. AP1 services from the airport operate between 06:00–01:20, with likely intervals of 10–15 minutes during the day.

Bus (MT1 – With the Ring line): You can reach the airport by taking the MT1 bus line from stops on the bridges heading towards Taipa from the city center or from points where MT1 passes on the peninsula. This line provides convenience to passengers by passing through many points in the city.

Taxi: Traveling from the airport to the city center by taxi is a fast and comfortable option. The journey time usually takes around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Taxis can be easily found at the airport exit.

Hotel Shuttle Services: Many hotels offer free shuttle services between the airport and the hotel. These services are generally aimed at hotel guests and operate at specific intervals. Travel time and frequency may vary from hotel to hotel.
