Pisa International Airport Guide
Pisa International Airport (known in Italian as Aeroporto Internazionale di Pisa “Galileo Galilei”) is located on the southwestern edge of the city of Pisa, in Italy's Tuscany region. Situated close to the city center, the airport is a short distance from Pisa Centrale train station and the historic center. The airport's IATA code is PSA, and its ICAO code is LIRP. PSA is among Italy's busiest airports and is the main civil airport of the Tuscany region. In 2017, it handled over 5.2 million passengers, ranking among the country's top 10 busiest airports. The airport's origins trace back to a military airfield from the 1910s, with its development as a civil airport accelerating particularly in the post-World War II era. PSA has two asphalt runways; the main runway is approximately 2,900 meters long, while the secondary runway is around 2,000 meters. The airport is located at a very low elevation near sea level.
Terminal Information
Pisa International Airport has a single main passenger terminal. The terminal handles both domestic and international operations within the same building. Domestic flights within Italy and non-Schengen international flights are separated after passport control and security. Therefore, airline counter numbers and departure gates should be followed on screens and through ticket information on the day of the flight. Many airlines and low-cost carriers operate at the terminal. Passengers can take advantage of the various services offered by the terminal.
