Pyongyang Sunan International Airport is the only international airport connecting Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, to the world. Located in the Sunan district, the airport is approximately 24-25 km from the city center. With the IATA code FNJ and ICAO code ZKPY, this airport was rebuilt and expanded after the Korean War. Although the annual passenger capacity is not officially disclosed, the capacity is relatively low due to the limited number of flights. The airport has two main terminals and various duty-free shops, restaurants, and cafes. While it does not play a significant role in cargo transportation, it is one of the rare points of international access in the country.
Terminal Information
Pyongyang Sunan International Airport has two passenger terminals. Terminal 1, opened in January 2016, serves only domestic flights. Terminal 2, which started service on July 1, 2015, is used for international flights. Flights, especially to China and Russia, are organized from this terminal. The two terminals are located side by side and are connected by a corridor with various shops, allowing passengers to easily move between terminals.
