Saudia About

Saudia is the flag carrier airline of Saudi Arabia, established in 1945 with a Douglas DC-3 aircraft gifted by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt to King Abdulaziz. Based in Jeddah, Saudia was initially managed by Trans World Airlines (TWA) under the Ministry of Defense and began operations on the Jeddah-Riyadh-Hofuf-Dhahran route in 1947. The airline's main hub is King Abdulaziz International Airport (Jeddah), with secondary hubs at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina, King Fahd Airport in Dammam, and King Khalid Airport in Riyadh. However, the Riyadh hub will be vacated by 2030. As a member of the SkyTeam alliance, Saudia became the first SkyTeam member in the Middle East in 2012. It is also a founding member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO). Its fleet consists of approximately 143 aircraft, including 89 Airbus (A330, A321, etc.) and 54 Boeing (777, 787 Dreamliner, etc.) models. Saudia operates flights to over 100 destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America and conducts charter flights during periods like Hajj and Ramadan. The annual passenger count is around 30-35 million based on pre-pandemic data. As a full-service carrier, Saudia has developed with hospitality and innovation. It also offers cargo, royal, and government flights. With one of the largest modern fleets in the Middle East, it launched the jet age in 1962 with Boeing 720s, marking a significant milestone. Saudia is known for its customer-focused services and extensive flight network.
