Almaty International Airport (IATA: ALA, ICAO: UAAA) is the largest and busiest airport located 18 km from the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan. The airport, which opened in 1930 with a single gravel runway, began modern operations in 1935. As of 2024, its annual passenger capacity has reached 14 million people. The airport has two runways; the first is 4,400m x 60m, and the second is 4,500m x 60m, making it one of the longest runways in Central Asia and it holds a CAT III certification. Almaty Airport offers passengers a comfortable travel experience with extensive duty-free areas, restaurants, cafes, and various shops. Additionally, the airport plays a significant role in cargo transportation, serving as one of the regional trade centers.

Terminal Information

Almaty International Airport has two terminals. Terminal 1, opened on December 29, 2003, serves domestic flights. Terminal 2, opened on June 1, 2024, serves international flights. This terminal includes 50 check-in counters, 20 passport control booths, and 4 automatic e-gates over an area of 53,000 m². Transportation between terminals is easy, and both terminals are equipped with modern facilities.

Bus: Bus number 3 provides 24-hour service from the airport to the city center. Additionally, buses numbered 79, 86, 92, and 106 also go to the city center. Bus number 92 reaches Abay Avenue in approximately 40 minutes.
