Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM) is located east of Mexico City, 13 km from the city center, and is known as the busiest airport in Mexico. It began civil operations in 1929 and was officially opened on May 15, 1931. Its modern form was completed in 1952. The IATA code is MEX, and the ICAO code is MMEX. In 2023, it served over 48 million passengers. The airport is owned by the Mexican Navy and operated by Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México.
